<p>Very few people know this, but today is the only day of the year meant to commemorate all the hogs that have become a part of American history&#8230;in our hotdogs and bologna.</p>
<p>My understanding of the holiday is that if you see the shadow of a traditional bologna sandwich (typically eaten on this holiest of days),  then you&#8217;ll probably scurry back into your house in frustration knowing that this is indicative of six more weeks of winter.</p>
<p>But&#8230;if the pork sausage remains shadowless, then you can expect winter to be over! yaay!!</p>
<p>Attempting the tradition with a tofurkydog usually ends with a false reading.</p>
