The fact that hair is growing out of your mole is a good sign. Cancerous hairs kill hair follicles, or so my cousin's friend's doctor says, so hair indicates that the skin is healthy. Wait, did I just say "my cousin's friend's doctor"? God, that sounds like I made it up, but I totally didn't. Srsly.

The link to longevity is fascinating. I've got a small group of three moles on my right cheek, so I guess I'm good to go. Time to use up that discount sky-diving coupon!

Marisa: OK. you got me. I tend to exagurate a little. It was more like 1.5 inches. =P And yeah, moles are linked to a longer lifespan...but only if you stay out of the sun. Obviously they don't help with the skin cancer thing.

I have to confess -- and I hope this won't ruin our friendship -- that I do not like moles. I don't have any, and I don't want any. I do have quite a few highly superior freckles, tho.

a mole with a 2 in. long hair??? Mmm... yummy.

But seriously, are they linked to a longer life span! I sure hope so! I have one right on my cheek and I'd like to think its more linked to a longer life span than skin cancer. Here's to hoping!!
